Weekend Recap

Posted on

Our weekend was pretty jam packed, which sometimes I like and other times I don’t. It is nice to lay back and relax on the weekends, but it’s also nice to be busy as a bee. On Friday night, I was so graciously presented with a birthday dinner. My birthday was on July 4th but since Joe and I were in Jamaica, I missed the celebration with my girl friends.

Friday night the girls and I to Wine Down first and then headed next door to West Reading Tavern for dinner. It was a great night but I had to call it an early one because last-minute I decided to do the 20in24 race in Philadelphia. I will do a post on the race in further detail this week but for a short summary, some people from work were running in a relay on Saturday morning. Someone must have canceled on Friday and the team needed another 2 runners. I got an email Friday afternoon from one of the relay members asking if I wanted to do a “quick” 8 and a half miles. I am up for almost any race and thought, sure! That meant, I had to keep myself in check Friday night so I wasn’t feeling the after effects Saturday morning while running all those miles. I did good, don’t worry. There was only one martini and one glass of wine! Both delicious!

After the race on Saturday, I was really tired and relaxed until evening when I hung out with my family.

On Sunday, Joe and I do what I absolutely love to do on the weekends…drive over to Old Wyomissing Road and walk the dog.

There is a creek that runs along the path, which Athena loves to frolic in and it is a nice mix up to our regular exercise routine for us. I even happened to snap a picture of this cool flower!

When we got home, Athena was tuckered out and so were Joe and I! We hung out doing some odds and ends, met Tiffani for lunch, did things around the house and had our regular Sunday dinner at Joe’s parents house. This was all great, but I wish I could have taken a big ol’ nap with our girl, Athena! Oh well, there’s always next weekend 🙂

Hope your weekend was great. Did you do anything exciting? Anyone run in a race?
